How to make an anvil in Minecraft and repair objects on it?

Anvil

Minecraft anvil ID: 145.

NID: anvil.

Anvil is the English name for an anvil in Minecraft. It can also be called a blacksmith's anvil.

Chapter:

How to get:

An anvil in Minecraft is a block that can be used to repair tools, rename objects, and combine enchantments. Repairing and combining enchantments requires experience. The anvil can be used approximately 25 times, as it wears out during use and its “working part” changes. Anvils are generated only in forest mansions (a natural structure added to Minecraft 1.11.), even in the village forge they cannot be found.

When you need an anvil

  1. For repairing things: tools, armor and weapons.
  2. For enchantment. You can change the effects applied to armor, weapons, tools and enchanted books.
  3. To rename items.
  4. For other purposes: can be used as traps, fired from a cannon, etc.

How to make an anvil

In order to make an anvil in Minecraft, you will need 31 iron ingots. And, more specifically, then: three iron blocks and four ingots, which are directly involved in the crafting recipe.

In order to make an anvil you need:

iron block

3 pcs.

iron ingot

4 things.

How to craft an anvil (recipe)

In order to craft an anvil, you need to extract 31 iron ingots from the mines. Of these, 27 are suitable for creating three iron blocks. To make one block: open the workbench panel and insert iron ingots into 9 cells. As a result, you should get three iron blocks and four ingots, from which you can make an anvil.

Afterwards you can start crafting. To do this, open the workbench panel and lay out the blocks in rows:

  • The top contains 3 blocks;
  • On average, the block is installed in the middle;
  • In the lower one you need to build 3 ingots.

This turns out to be a standard anvil. If you have the material, you can create 2-3 items. The crafting recipe is the same, construction is carried out according to the standard scheme.

How to use

Experienced users know how to use an anvil in Minecraft. Objects to be repaired are laid out on it, and repairs are made using tools.

How to use

On the block you can repair equipment for work - picks, shovels, weapons. An anvil is used to repair an enchanted item; this will require a product with a similar enchantment. If not, then you can use the standard item and experience. If using “clean” equipment, enchanting should be done on an anvil.

Other Anvil Abilities

Unfortunately, the anvil will be extremely difficult for a beginner to handle. For example, only after you start using it will it become clear that changing the name of an item requires several levels, and even improving a sword made from diamonds will require a great many of them. Fortunately, the abundance of high-level enchantments will make all the work worth it.

Another disadvantage of the anvil is its strength. Unfortunately it is wearing out. Each use with a twelve percent chance will reduce the strength of your anvil. Since it only has three levels, after thirty uses it will be completely broken.

In addition, the anvil falls if you destroy the block underneath it. An experienced player will figure out how to use this during the game. You can, for example, come up with a trap in which monsters can be killed with a collapsed anvil. But here we must remember that the stronger the blow, the more it is damaged.

IngredientsProcess
Iron blocks + Iron ingots

To repair tools on an anvil, you need to place two identical objects in the interface cells. The strength of the resulting item will be approximately 7% greater than the total strength of the original ones. From version 12w42a, you can also repair objects using the appropriate materials on an anvil. To do this, place the tool in the left slot, and the material from which it is made in the right slot. Iron ingots are used to repair chain mail. For tools and swords, one unit of material restores an average of 25% strength. This is disadvantageous in terms of saving resources when repairing tools, but it allows you to save enchantments. In addition, repair is beneficial for armor, since when crafting armor, from 4 to 8 units of material are used, and a complete repair from scratch requires only 4 units. With each repair of an item, more and more experience will be required, until it becomes impossible to repair the item.

In addition to repairs, the anvil allows you to change the effects applied to armor, weapons, tools and enchanted books. To implement this feature, you need to place two identical enchanted items made from the same material, any item and an enchanted book, as well as two enchanted books into the anvil interface cells. When forging the listed items with the same enchantments of the same level, the effect on the resulting item will be one level higher than on the original ones (for example, two pickaxes with Efficiency IV will give one with Efficiency V). Using this method, you can obtain effects that have become unavailable (for example, Strength V for a bow) through enchantment after reducing the maximum level to 30 and changing the enchantment mechanics. However, the level of the effect obtained will not exceed the maximum level of this enchantment (Effectiveness VI cannot be obtained). If the original items have different types of enchantments, they will be combined when added to the resulting item. In addition, it should be remembered that even with the help of an anvil you cannot obtain incompatible enchantments on the same item (for example, Luck and Silk Touch). That is, the enchantment from the second item is “transferred” to the first, but only if this is possible.

Repairing and combining enchantments requires experience. The more powerful the enchantments involved in forging, the more experience levels will be required for this, and the material does not matter. Merging will not be available if these items require more than 40 levels (this limitation does not exist in Creative Mode). Another consequence of the “transfer” of enchantments: forging a more powerful item in the first slot and a weaker one in the second will be cheaper than vice versa. For example, when combining a damaged sword with Sharpness I in the first slot and the same sword with Sharpness IV in the second, a transfer of Sharpness IV will be carried out, whereas when placed vice versa, only repairs will be made. This is also true when combining items with different enchantments.

An additional feature of the anvil is renaming items. The name length is no more than 30 characters. It will also cost some experience (5 levels for normal items). Each subsequent renaming will cost more.

During use and when dropped, the anvil is destroyed, and its surface gradually becomes covered with cracks. The chance of damage to the anvil when used as intended is 12%, the chance when dropped is calculated as (5 + height * 5)%. The last time you use it, the interface will close, the anvil itself will disappear, and the repaired item will fall to the ground. Since the anvil has 3 durability levels, the average number of uses is 25.

What can be done

In Minecraft, an anvil works not only to repair objects, but also to modify various effects applied through tools, armor, weapons, and enchanted books.

To do this, add components corresponding to the options to the control panel cells:

  • Two items of a similar type (items must be made from the same base) that have an enchantment;
  • Enchanted book and item;
  • Two enchanted books.

When forging items with similar enchantments and identical levels, the effect indicator on the item becomes an order of magnitude higher. In practice, it looks like this: from 2 pickaxes with efficiency IV, we get 1 with efficiency V. Thanks to this method, it is possible to achieve indicators that were not possible.

Pickaxe enchantment

An anvil can be used to repair various items - picks, shovels, armor, chain mail, weapons and other valuable items.

It's interesting to know

  • The anvil helps to fire cannons.
  • When an anvil falls, it can cause damage when it falls on mobs or players.
  • The greater the height from which the anvil falls, the more serious the damage. The death of a player due to an anvil falling on him is indicated by a special message, where it will be written that the player was crushed.
  • The explosion will not be able to destroy the anvil, but it will also not hinder it in any way.
  • No one suffocates in the anvil block.
  • The anvil can be damaged when it falls on an incomplete block. The surface it falls on does not affect the damage.
  • An object can fall from any height, but will only be damaged by one level and no more.
  • The arrow's name disappears after renaming or when you shoot it. Don't think you'll find her after the shot under her old name.
  • The block name also disappears after it is mined.

When several players play a game at the same time, a bug often occurs - things fall out. This can happen when a tool or armor is being repaired, or when the player tries to exit the anvil menu. Dropping items costs experience, but it is returned when you acquire it in another way.

Things will remain the same as they were. All this can be avoided if you use the English interface language during forging. If you use Russian or any other language, then just change it. Using the Latin alphabet, you can erase a name or rename an item.

How was the anvil added to the game?

When the new version 12w41a appeared in October 2012, players first encountered an anvil in this version. In version 12w42a, some changes occurred to it: the crafting recipe and textures were changed. Players could now repair tools using certain materials.

In version 1.4, creative mode allowed the 40-level limit to be removed, but otherwise nothing has changed. It no longer works for users playing in this mode. The enchanted book in version 1.4.6 made it possible to enchant objects. In version 1.5.2, using an anvil costs a certain amount of experience.

How to fix things

An anvil is used to repair objects, the process is performed in two ways:

  • The first method is similar to the repair method without an anvil. Take 2 products and connect them together. If done on an anvil, the strength will add up and increase by 7%;
  • The second option is available at the anvil. This is done using the raw materials used in the manufacture of the product. If iron armor or chain mail breaks, they should be repaired using iron ingots. One unit of iron ingots restores 25% strength. Repairing a diamond breastplate using this method will be more profitable than repairing a sword.

How to fix a fishing rod

Suitable for fishing rod repair. It can be combined with another fishing rod, this will increase the strength of the product by 7%. A method using the materials from which the fishing rod is made is also available. This option increases strength by up to 25%.

How to repair items on an anvil in Minecraft?

In order to successfully play, you will need to learn how to repair objects using an anvil. First you need to find the interface cells and put 2 materials into them that are identical to each other. The result is a material that is 7 percent stronger than it was originally. If your game version is a later version, then you have the opportunity to repair the anvil using certain materials.

The item that needs to be repaired is placed in the left slot, and the repair material is placed in the right slot. If you are repairing chain mail, then take iron ingots for this. Remember that when repairing all kinds of tools and swords, one unit of material can only restore the artifact by 25 percent. As you can see, quite a lot of resources are spent, but the enchantments are preserved. Remember that repairing armor will be much more profitable than creating it again.

To create armor you will need, on average, 4-8 units, and for repairs, 4 units will be enough. Once you understand how to make and repair an anvil, as well as repair items, you can explore other features and gain experience in the game.

Interesting Facts

  • Using an anvil you can fire cannons.
  • If an anvil in Minecraft falls on mobs or players, it will cause certain damage, the amount of which will depend on the height of the fall. If any player dies, a message will appear: “The player was crushed by a falling anvil.”
  • An anvil cannot be destroyed by an explosion, although it does not prevent its spread.
  • In a multiplayer game with an anvil, there is a bug where when repairing a tool or armor, or when exiting the anvil menu, the item and its components (or another similar artifact) fall out, after which experience is wasted. If you gain a little experience by any other method, the lost experience is returned, and things remain in the same state. In order to eliminate this bug, it is necessary to switch the interface language from Russian (or another language) to English during forging. You can also remove the name given to an item or change it using the Latin alphabet.
  • It is impossible to suffocate in an anvil block.
  • When an anvil falls due to falling on an incomplete block, there is a chance of damaging it, because the damage is calculated regardless of what it fell on.
  • No matter from what height the anvil falls, it will not be damaged more than one level.
  • If you rename an arrow, shoot it, and pick it up, the name given to it will disappear.
  • If you rename a block and place it somewhere, then after mining that same block, the name will disappear.

Crafting anvils

Beginners are often interested in how to craft an anvil in Minecraft. It is created using iron ingots and blocks. You can see the process in the picture below. Since creating 1 iron block requires 9 ingots, it is easy to calculate that you will need 31 of the latter. It should be noted that during operation, an anvil in Minecraft gradually collapses, so be prepared to craft it more than once. It can also be damaged if it falls. You can assess the degree of wear by the number of cracks that appear on its surface. If you use the anvil for its intended purpose, then the chance of its destruction is 12%; the same indicator for a fall should be calculated as follows: 5 + (height * 5)%. The last time you use it, the anvil will disappear and the item you repaired will fall to the ground. Since the anvil in Minecraft has 3 levels of strength, you will be able to use it 25 times (on average).

Repairing items

How to use an anvil in Minecraft? In order to repair tools on it, you need to place two identical materials in the interface cells. The durability of the item you receive will be approximately 7% higher than the original. Starting with version 12w42a, it became possible to repair using appropriate materials. To do this, you need to place the item in the left slot, and the material from which it is created in the right slot. For example, to repair chain mail, you need iron ingots. As for all kinds of tools and swords, then 1 unit. material restores about 25% of the artifact's strength. From an economic point of view, this is not entirely profitable, because a large amount of resources is lost. However, this makes it possible to preserve the spell. Plus, repairs are very beneficial for armor, because when creating it you need to use from 4 to 8 units. material, and a 100% repair will require only 4 units.
