Advantages of a table for chainsaws
A table for chainsaw chains is the best way to visually select a headset. With its help, any novice gardener or feller will not have to spend hours looking for a product whose characteristics would correspond to the dimensions of the factory kit.
When creating it, the following factors were taken into account:
- the length of the bar indicated in centimeters - as a rule, it is calculated in the range of 30–45 cm. Sometimes there are exceptions when you need to find an element for high-power saws;
- chain pitch is a parameter that is equal to the distance between three adjacent rivets;
- the total number of links is one of the most important characteristics. It depends on it whether the new part will fit on the standard saw bar;
- shank thickness indicated in millimeters - this parameter is measured
caliper. In most cases it is in the range from 1.1 to 2 mm.
Thanks to the totality and accessible presentation of this data, everyone can understand this information.
How to sharpen an electric saw chain with your own hands?
Many craftsmen sharpen the chain of an electric saw at the first signs of wear on its cutting teeth. However, it is not possible to use any specific tool for this procedure. To work, you need to stock up on a whole set of special equipment. To do this you will need:
- Flat file – it is needed to adjust the depth stop;
- A round file having reference lines;
- Caliber;
- Mandrel – it will help in determining the angle.
To sharpen the chain of an electric saw, the saw element should be left on the bar.
In this case, the tire must be securely fixed in a vice. The diameter of the file used must correspond to the diameter of the chain teeth. When using a round file, be sure to ensure that it extends no more than 1/5 of its length above the chain teeth. The first tooth of the chain to be sharpened must be marked with a marker so as not to go around the second round.
Sharpening an electric saw chain with your own hands should be done with precise and rhythmic movements and only in one direction. After making several sharpenings, proceed to processing the limiter - over time it wears out and loses its shape. When working, place the end side of the gauge against the edge of the stop. If the limiter extends far beyond the caliber, it will have to be trimmed using a flat file. In this case, the gauge must be positioned strictly perpendicular to the saw bar.
It is impossible to determine the result of chain sharpening visually. You can only find out whether you did everything correctly when sawing the wood.
Terms of use
The left column contains a list of the most popular chainsaw models. All other columns indicate tire sizes and other operating parameters of the saw set. Thanks to this arrangement of data, any novice feller can find an element that is suitable for his tool in a few minutes.

If the saw cuts crookedly - reasons and what to do
Often sawers are faced with the fact that at one point the saw begins to cut crookedly. This not only causes inconvenience, but also complicates the sawing procedure. The sawyer has to make efforts not only to hold the tool, but also to level it. Few people know that using a tool with such deformation is prohibited. Let's find out what causes uneven cuts with a chainsaw, and why this is dangerous for the sawyer.
If the saw begins to cut crookedly, this indicates the presence of subtle deformation of the tire. The deformation is associated with the tire bead, which has uneven wear. As a result, the chain is not positioned evenly, but with a slight misalignment. The amount of distortion may not be visible to the eye.
This is interesting!
The cause of an uneven cut with a chainsaw may be uneven wear on the chain links or improper sharpening.
Before replacing a tire, make sure that the chain is in good condition. The problem of uneven tire wear can be eliminated by replacing it. It is almost impossible to uniformly grind the sides of the guide, so it is recommended to replace it along with the chain. The danger of using a deformed chainsaw guide is that the chain shank may jump out of the groove, which will entail not the most favorable consequences.
The chainsaw bar, like the chain, experiences heavy loads, so it wears out. When wear occurs, it is important to replace the part in a timely manner without waiting for adverse consequences. How to choose and what to consider when buying a tire for a chainsaw is described in detail in the material.
Electric chain saw Makita UC 3520A Review

I'm reviewing my electric chain saw.

I partially disassemble the saw guard,
The flap-shaped lever in front of the handle is a chain brake. The man throws a punch, he leans his hand on the flap, the engine stops. This is anti-reverse protection.
The Makita electric chain saw has a motor overheating lock and a switch-on lock. A smooth increase in starting current allows you to gradually gain momentum, extending the service life of all components.
Experts advise not to buy a saw if it is not locked. This is the first sign that the model is fake.
