Weaving rope bracelets from threads with your own hands

How to weave a rope with your own hands?

Kvartblog regularly monitors what unusual interior solutions designers come up with and implement in their projects. We have noticed that recently the use of coarse hemp rope and ropes in home decoration has become popular.

These simple materials can add charm to an interior in nautical, rustic, modern and minimalist styles, not to mention eclectic.

Most of the ideas that we will talk about can be implemented with your own hands (with a lot of desire and a little diligence), but there are also those that can be purchased in the store (more on them at the very end).

What can be decorated using ropes and ropes?

Mirrors and shelves

A round mirror suspended on a rope is a very popular decorative element, which is often found in nautical-style interiors and even in lofts (Charlize Theron, for example). Such mirrors are sold in many stores, but you can also make them yourself.

As for the shelves, you will need several planks, a long rope, a drill and fasteners. See what the final result might look like. The most important thing is to make sure that the shelves are securely attached, do not wobble and are not going to collapse on someone's head at the most inopportune moment.

It’s better to play it safe and secure the shelves separately to the wall, and leave the rope as a decorative element.

Rope and ropes in the interior: lampshades and chandeliers

It's simple. You have a ready-made lamp, lampshade or even an Ilyich light bulb. You need to wrap a rope around the proposed handmade lamp and secure it to keep the structure in place. In the case of a lampshade, the ropes should fit tightly together, so make sure you use a good glue (we at Kvartblog prefer a glue gun).

Stair railing

To implement this idea, you will need several fasteners and a long rope. The secret to success is to secure the rope well. This will ensure your safety in case you have to suddenly grab the railing if you suddenly stumble (and this does not happen in dachas and country houses!). We have selected three different types of rope railings.

Wall decor

You can use rope to create both abstract compositions and whole words. It is worth noting that the rope can also be combined with a garland (New Year is coming!) or.

Furniture

Complete creative freedom! Oddly enough, almost any piece of furniture can be decorated with ropes, and in some cases not only decorated, but also hung (however, it is better to trust any hanging structures to be done by a professional who knows how to make them reliable).

Rug

Elementary Watson! Rope, glue and thick fabric from which to cut the base for the rug. More clearly - here.

Separation wall

The advantage of such a wall is that it seems to visually divide the space, but at the same time lets in light! We have seen similar options many times, including in the photographer’s recent Moscow apartment.

Vases

The principle is this: you begin to wrap the rope around the surface of the vase, circle by circle, securing it together with reliable glue. The work should follow exactly the same pattern as with a lampshade or stool. In addition to a vase, you can decorate any bowl or bottle in this way. Another simple way to decorate a vase (a transparent one, of course) is to put ropes in it.

Coasters for mugs

As you know, it is better to place hot mugs on some kind of stands instead of a tablecloth. We invite you to pay attention to the simple decor made from ropes. All you need is some string and glue. To make the stand easier, you can use a jar lid, which will keep the rope from unwinding while we glue it.

Curtain tiebacks

Curtain tiebacks always give you room for creativity. What kind of stuff are they made from? Ropes were no exception. Do you know how to tie sea knots? Show off your skills!

For those who don’t like making things with their own hands, we have made two selections with ready-made things. In the first we have decor, in the second we have furniture.

Pillow (RUR 1,380), four-piece photo frame (RUR 5,130), chandelier with six shades (RUR 86,170), table lamp with a curved rope at the base (RUR 7,500), round photo frame (RUR 1,655 .), candlesticks (RUB 13,235)

), hanging mirror (RUR 3,140), set of wicker boxes (RUR 19,000), table lamp (RUR 8,955). Console (RUB 34,200), wicker stool (RUB 48,100), table with a spiral base (RUB 36,800), book and magazine holder (RUB 16,545).

), wicker ottoman (RUB 20,600).

How to weave a rope?

There are several simple ways to make rope. These methods can be divided according to the type of material used. As a rule, in order to weave a rope “here and now” it is necessary to use less processed and, accordingly, less durable materials.

But in any case, to weave a rope, you need fibers. These fibers can be either wood (birch bark, bast) or simply plant (flax, hemp, nettle). This is not to mention ropes and threads woven from wool.

Tapes made from bark or thin twigs are not very flexible and are therefore not suitable for some types of work.

More about materials

Bast is what is located between the tree and its bark. It has a fibrous structure and is therefore suitable for making ropes. In addition, it does not need to be processed for a long time - just lightly dry it in the sun.

After the bast stops oozing (in some tree species the bast is very juicy), you need to knead it, and then start twisting the future rope from two thinner ones. This is the fastest and easiest way to make rope.

You can also braid a rope from bast, but such a rope will only be strong if it is thick.

With birch bark, a similar result is achieved only by weaving three or four strips. The more strips you intertwine, the flatter and wider the ribbon becomes.

However, the strongest ropes are made from the stems of green plants , and they take quite a long time to make. This is due to the fact that the stems must first be soaked and dried.

It takes the longest to wash hemp – it is believed that to fully process it, it needs to be washed for at least two years. The situation is similar with flax .

The stems of such plants contain a small layer between the inner “woody” part and the green skin, which, in fact, is the fibers.

To separate it, the stems need to be dried and then soaked for a long time in running water (to prevent rotting), although in some regions the so-called “soaking in dew” was more common (simply lay flax or hemp on the grass in an even layer and leave it like that). for a long time). When the process is completed, it will be possible to easily separate the fibers from the stem itself; to do this, you need to thresh the flax or hemp (that is, knock on the stems with a wooden stick).

When the fibers are separate, they need to be combed out, then spun (again, twist the fibers in two threads), and thinner threads made into thicker ones.

Two methods are commonly used to produce rope: braiding and twisting . The second method is more suitable for the production of thin threads, with the help of which rope or cord is made. Let's take a closer look at several ways to make rope.

Making small twine

To knock down a short twine you do not need any special devices; you can very easily do it yourself, even on a desert island. To begin with, you will need a piece of some dense natural material, from which, if possible, a kind of rectangle is made, on which small holes are made.

Fibers of the future rope are then inserted into these holes, with the help of which a piece of leather can be tied to any object, for example, a tree or your knee.

Next comes the process of making the heel (the strand from which the rope is twisted). The heels are tied at the ends for convenience.

The tied ends should be in the hand, and the free ends should be placed parallel to each other on a piece of leather. The heels are twisted counterclockwise.

The process can take place in several stages - it all depends on the size of the twine. When the twine is ready, its free ends are also tied so that they do not unravel during use.

Rope crafts as original souvenirs

Recently, rope crafts have become very popular again. The main reason is that they are quite simple to make. Even a high school-age child can cope with this task. Twine weaving is especially popular among teenage girls, if they have special machines (homemade or industrially produced). Here are the main advantages of such souvenirs:

  • The rope panel will adequately decorate any interior;
  • Making products from twine is much easier and cheaper than weaving from beads or small rubber bands. In addition, when working with such large material as rope, you don’t have to strain your eyes;
  • It is not at all necessary to buy a special machine to work. You can weave by hand or using an ordinary crochet hook or a wooden slingshot;
  • Twine or twine is a material that is found in any home. Therefore, before you get to work, you don’t need to run to the store and buy expensive things.

learn how to work with twine at a cultural center or folk art house, as well as at craft fairs. Such places usually host a variety of master classes and presentations of new techniques. By attending such events, you can learn a lot of interesting things and enrich your collection of ideas with new options for creative work.

Based on one rope loop and a durable frame, you can come up with a variety of things. Real craftsmen even make beads and bracelets that are in no way inferior to costume jewelry made from other materials.

Those who love weaving from cord or rope usually look for patterns on the Internet or consult with similarly enthusiastic people.

How to weave a rope with your own hands

Ancient rope weaving with your own hands - greetings from your ancestors. The knowledge gained from them is still stored in our memory and passed on from generation to generation.

What kind of handicraft is this and is it really possible to make something worthwhile from such material? Of course yes.

This is a strong base, suitable for creating not only household items, but also accessories.

They look stylish and unexpected, so they will definitely be happy to take a place among jewelry and items made of stones, baubles, etc. Let’s consider the stages of formation and work.

Origins of craftsmanship

The technology is called macrame. This is the oldest type of needlework, which has passed through many centuries in our time. The basis is knotted weaving. By the way, “lace” or “fringe” is translated from Arabic - weaving on the hands.

Technology allows you to make many interesting things that can easily transform your home. For example, lampshades, flower pots, napkins, coasters, baskets, etc.

To work you always need a strong rope, a knife, scissors, a ruler and a pencil. PVA glue is not suitable for crafts, so buy “hot” glue, which is sold at any specialty store.

Let's try to weave a hammock. This is furniture from the Indians of South America, protecting against dampness and annoying insects.

This product saved a lot of space, and allowed you to have a good rest while on a hike. How cool it is to lie in it at the dacha, hiding under the crowns of tall trees! It is woven from different materials - fabric, wood, with slats, etc.

Progress:

  • Take a cotton rope or cord. Pay attention to the thickness - at least 8 mm;
  • Centimeter ruler;
  • Scissors;
  • Planks with 4-5 cm holes. Make the edge smooth so that the material does not rub. There is no difference between wooden and metal planks. Remember that the length must be at least 90 cm.

Before work, calculate the footage - multiply the entire length of the product by 3, multiply by all the holes in the planks + 20 m for the fastening.

How to weave an example: a product measuring 2.5 m by 0.9 m, i.e. you need 170 m of rope, of which 150 for the product and 20 for fasteners.

  1. Let's take the ropes. We cut off 20 m for fasteners, and the remaining material into 6 m pieces.
  2. We fasten the loops and knots on the twine.
  3. Weaving is complex, so read articles on the product first. We will thread 2 ends of the rope into each hole. We insert them into the ring, bending them 8-10 cm. We fix them. Pay attention to the diagrams.
  1. Watch the distance between the ring and the block. It should be equal to a quarter of the length.
  2. Mesh weaving. We tie the ends of the twine coming out of the hole in knots. We get cells. The mesh needs to be woven until the ends are more than a quarter of the mesh from the bar to the ring. Add 8-10 cm.
  3. The last row is more difficult. They need to be positioned like the first row. We pass them through the holes of the second bar, bend them and fasten them to the second ring.

Advice - to strengthen the hammock, we thread strong cords through the sides, which we pull very tightly, tying them to the ring.

Masters advise watching video tutorials to understand the weaving itself. No matter how you look at it, this is a difficult activity that will be difficult for beginners.

New options

A bathroom rug is not only beautiful, but also comfortable.

Let's take for work:

  • nylon rope (1.5 cm thick) - 50 m in total;
  • scissors.

Practice using thin rope to get the hang of the braid.

  1. Tie a knot at one end, do not tighten it. Leaving an 80 cm tail, pull the loop down.

Read this: How to weave a doll from rubber bands: easy creation instructions

  1. We pull the tail, pass it under the crossing rope, and pull it under the last rope.
  1. Weave the base lines with the long end.
  1. Glue the ends to the wrong side. The weave needs to be lightly glued.

The impossible is possible

Rope accessory? Easily! Let's make a stylish bracelet that suits different styles.

  • take multi-colored ropes;
  • scissors;
  • scotch;
  • ribbon clips;
  • carbine;
  • pliers.
  1. We take two pieces of the same size and wrap them with tape.
  1. We follow the next steps according to the picture above.
  2. To align the end, we use adhesive tape, which we use to make a temporary winding.
  1. Wrap the ends of the product with tape.
  2. Remove excess with a toothpick and put on ribbon clips.

This is how the product turned out:

It turns out that rope is needed not only as a construction working material. But also for interesting products.

It’s amazing that such material will look good on various crafts - accessories, household items, baskets, etc.

To get started, watch lessons that help you remember basic patterns, material movements, and sequences of actions.

How to make a rope with your own hands from threads

If you find yourself in an extreme situation, it would be great if you had all the necessary equipment with you. But usually this is not the case, especially when there is a shortage of ropes. This is felt when building a shelter. Therefore, today I will tell you how to make a rope from plants.

What's suitable

To make ropes, you can use tall grass, but only dry grass. Also suitable for these purposes are various stems of fibrous plants, tree roots, bast and even tendons from animals. Long hair from animals is also suitable.

Plants such as nettle and hemp are very suitable for us. You can also use fireweed stems. These plants probably grow throughout our country, except for the northernmost regions.

We need long stems from which we remove the leaves. Then it is better to soak them in water for a day. After which each stem must be covered with stone. Use a flat stone without sharp corners. We clean the inner pulp and remove all excess by combing the fibers. Now they need to be dried and the resulting thin long threads woven together into a thicker thread, and then into a rope.

Willow or hazel bark, which is removed from trees, is suitable (it is most convenient to do this in the spring). On many old fallen trees, if you remove the bark, you will find the inside peeled off. And both on the trunk itself and near the branches. This inner part of the bark will be a good material for rope.

Various trees and plants with a shallow root system will also work here. Here, a long root is taken and split into several parts, separating the finer fibers.

How to do

There is nothing complicated with the roots and bark; they are divided into thin fibers from which thicker threads are woven. And thick ropes are woven from rope threads.

But the technology for making ropes from plant stems is more confusing and requires some explanation.

As I wrote above, we need long stems of plants from which the leaves are removed. Then the stems are soaked for a day in water (but some do without this).

Then we tap the stems with a stone and remove the pulp remaining from the core. Or we make a cut along the entire stem and remove the core. All that remains is the basis of our ropes.

Because here are the fibers from which everything is made.

Another option is to collect the stems of fibrous plants, then dry them, then soak them in water and send them out to dry again. And after this drying, we can begin processing our stems.

We take and remove foliage, small twigs and so on. We clear the stem of all excess. Knead the stems with a stick or smooth stone. It is necessary to separate the soft, dry fibers from the hard parts of the stem.

This process must be carried out very carefully, because the quality of the resulting fibers depends on it. Therefore, we continue to strike the stem with a stick and knead it.

It is necessary that in the end only soft fibers remain.

To finally remove all solid particles, you can take a bunch of our upholstered stem and hit it several times on a tree or other surface

Now it is advisable to have something similar to a comb with you. We need to comb the fibers thoroughly and separate them. But do not be upset if these fibers cannot be completely cleared. From these you can immediately weave thicker ropes and even ropes, which are quite suitable for tying objects and tying poles when building a shelter.

Weaving

Thin ropes (bundles) are woven from the fibers. And then thicker ones are woven from these ropes. Usually three threads are woven into one.

The junctions of one thread with another should be spaced in different places. That is, we take three threads and first add a thread to the one that is shorter, and then weave, then we lengthen the second thread and then the third. This will make the rope stronger and more uniform in thickness.

After the rope is ready, you can soak it in a decoction of oak bark. This will give it protection from various insects and will allow it to not rot longer.

It should be understood that the rope obtained by this method should not be thrown anywhere unnecessarily, and should not be used in places with sharp edges. It would be better to store it in a dry place, and if it gets wet, dry it as quickly as possible. It is not advisable to leave such ropes tied for a long time and should be checked for damage from time to time.

How to weave a rope from ropes

Even in ancient times, people wove ropes themselves. This product was constantly in demand, and therefore had wide popularity. Nowadays, ropes are also often used in various industries, in construction, and also as decorative elements.

Of course, nowadays you can buy any rope in a store. Here you will find the widest range of rope products. Large industrial and construction enterprises cooperate with us. We offer ropes not only wholesale, but also retail.

Simple and practical basket

Required materials:

  • Strong rope;
  • Glue;
  • Scissors;
  • Threads.

The basket is sewn together with thick, strong rope. Also, to prevent it from deforming, you need to use glue, since this craft is made without a base. Here you can also use various decorative elements, including colored threads or ribbons. The spaces between the ropes are wrapped with threads (ribbons).

In addition to decoration, they cover parts of the joint of ropes. This interesting and simple basket will serve not only as an excellent organizer, but also as an addition to the interior of an apartment or private house.

One of the advantages of such products is their naturalness and hygiene, since the material is a fiber of plant origin, processed in a special way.

In turn, rope crafts are suitable for beginner needlewomen who want to somehow update the decoration of their premises.

Twisting a rope with your fingers

This method is best suited for making rope from reeds or cattails. Two heels made from these natural materials are tied together, after which they are thrown onto special flyers made of wood and driven into the wall (such a simple device serves as a reel for rope).

The heels are transferred from one hand to the other during the twisting process. When a heel comes to an end, it needs to be extended, but under no circumstances should this be done by extending both heels at the same time. Otherwise, in some places the thickness of the rope will be greater, and because of this, the strength of the product is significantly reduced.

At the end of the process, the remaining free ends of the heels must be torn off.

Twisting with hooks

First you need to make the hooks themselves, which can be cut from willow or birch. The ends of the hooks should not be the same, one of which should be approximately 2-3 times larger than the other.

The heel is draped over the hook in several reverse layers, somewhat reminiscent of a figure eight. For convenience, it is better to tie the ends of the heels. Twisting on ropes on hooks takes place in several stages:

  1. Pulling the heels on the stick;
  2. Rotate clockwise (until you get a strong tourniquet);
  3. The hooks will be mixed from one hand to the other in the process (in this case, the right hook should always be on top, and the left one on the bottom);

The process of twisting a rope on hooks consists of repeating these actions. To make a three-fiber rope, you need to add another hook. When the ropes are ready, they are dried, twisted and stored in some dry place.

Twisting a rope using improvised objects

Almost always, the available material for weaving a rope can be two pieces of cardboard or wood, and one piece should be slightly smaller than the other. Holes are made in both pieces into which wooden sticks are inserted, which can easily be torn from any tree by clearing them of leaves.

After this, the cardboard or board should be fixed, for example, on a tree trunk (plant fibers and flexible rods can also be used for fixation). To twist a rope in this way, you need to make a bobbin, which is very simple to make.

Take four sticks, the length of which should be 50 centimeters according to the eye. These sticks are tied in a cross pattern. Then four more sticks are added to them, which serve to connect these crosses.

In the middle of the crosses you need to make a small hole and insert an axle into it (the same wooden stick, only a little denser). To twist a rope, plant fibers must be carefully laid out by winding one of them onto the resulting bobbin.

Next, you need to rotate the bobbin with your right hand, gradually adding new fibers with the other hand. The strand remains on the bobbin until it is completely filled, after which the strand can be wound or tied for further use. To twist strands into a rope, you can use the above methods.

Tree bark rope for hiking

Rope making process

First, at the thick end of each rod, we make two to four small cuts in the bark at equal distances around the circumference.

The number of cuts determines how many strips of bark we will get from one rod, and how wide they will be.

The larger the width of the strip of bark, the stronger the rope woven from such strips will be, however, in this case more rods will be required.

I made three cuts and, thus, from each twig I will rip off three strips of bark.

Next, we tear off strips of bark from the rod. First, first.

  • And then the rest.
  • And so we removed the bark from all the twigs.

Now you can start weaving the rope itself. To do this, first place two strips crosswise, and then wrap the short end of one of the strips around the other and apply it to the long end of the same strip.

  1. Thus, we get three ends, from which we weave a classic braid - a three-ended braid.

I will not describe in detail how to braid a three-ended braid, since you can find a lot of information about this on the Internet, but I will limit myself to just a few basic tips.

Firstly, we have absolutely no need for beauty here, so we don’t have to make sure that the weaving is beautiful and even, but density, on the contrary, is important for the strength of the rope.

Therefore, it is very advisable to braid strips of bark as tightly as possible.

Secondly, when another strip ends during weaving, you need to apply a new strip 10-15 cm long to its end and braid them together as one whole strip.

Thirdly, when we weave a rope of the length we need, we must definitely secure the remaining ends of the strips so that they do not unravel. To do this, you can simply wrap them around the end of the rope several times and tie them in two knots, or simply tie a simple knot at the end of the rope.

If desired, all the long ends of the strips sticking out from the rope can be cut off. After this, our rope is ready!

I wove a rope a little over two meters long, which is quite enough for a strength experiment, and it took me about ten minutes. Naturally, if necessary, such a rope can be woven to any length.

Homemade rope tests

Well, now, let's test the strength of this rope. To do this, I tied a loop at both ends of the rope. By the way, the knots and loops on such a rope fit quite well.

Then, from below, into the loop of the rope, I placed a piece of a small thick branch, weighing about eight kilograms, and hung the rope itself using the upper loop on a nail above the barn door.

As you can see, our rope can withstand such weight perfectly. At the same time, the rope, of course, stretched somewhat and became a little thinner, but this did not affect its strength.

  • Then I increased the load and hung three thick pieces of wood, with a total weight of about 20 kg. As you can see, our rope can easily withstand such weight

After that, I just tried to hang from the bark rope myself. This led to the fact that the rope held up, but the nail on which it hung did not hold up and bent. :e113:

Next, I tried to break this rope with my hands, but I couldn’t. As a result, I finally broke it by stepping on the loop with one foot and pulling the other part of the rope with both hands. At the same time, the loop itself remained intact.

In general, the experiment showed that such a rope, woven from bark, is quite strong and can easily withstand a load of up to 20-30 kg, or even more. For hiking conditions, this is usually quite enough. If you need to weave a stronger rope, then there may be several options.

For example, you can weave a rope from wider strips of bark, or you can weave a rope not like a braid - three ends, but like four, five, six - ends, etc. This rope will be thicker and stronger. True, this will require additional weaving skills. Or you can simply weave a thin rope longer, and then fold it in half, three or even four.

But this will again require more time, and you will also have to prepare quite a lot of strips of bark.

Well, that's all for me! Bye everyone and happy hiking and fishing!

How to make a rope yourself at home

In the modern world, more and more attention has been paid to handmade products. These are unique, authentic items made from natural materials. A considerable part of the objects that surround us in everyday life can be made independently. These also include industrial ropes. Read on to learn how to make ropes yourself.

How to make a rope yourself?

Sometimes you need thick or decorative rope, which is not so easy to find in stores. It can be used for decoration, in construction, for clothing, bags and so on.

You can knit this lace yourself. Depending on the length needed, the amount of materials is selected. The choice of yarn for this purpose is also up to you.

For example, for decorative rope, yarn made from materials such as:

  • mohair;
  • wool;
  • wool mixture;
  • merino;
  • acrylic;
  • cotton.

It will take little time to make a clothes rope, because its length usually does not exceed two meters. This accessory is used as a belt or as aran patterns on clothes.

Separately, you can tie original knots and then decorate a sweater or cardigan with them. Such creative clothing items will be appreciated by handmade lovers.

In addition, the demand for handmade items is very high abroad and you can make it to order, the main thing is to find a sales channel on the Internet.

If you are interested in unusual jewelry, then pay attention to thick knitted yarn. It is from this that non-standard neck jewelry is obtained.

They can be made either according to standard patterns, or you can come up with patterns yourself, because this will only benefit the product. Spaghetti knitted yarn resembles a T-shirt cut into ribbons, but looks much neater.

The thickness of the knitwear is the same along the entire length, so the accessories made from it have a dense, uniform structure.

Such ropes are easy to make at home. As a rule, they are knitted very quickly and require a minimum of additional fasteners to give the product a finished look.

Necklaces are in greatest demand. Despite their massiveness, they look very gentle and original, and fit almost any style.

By adding beads to such a necklace, you will get an expensive-looking and stylish decoration.

How to make a rope from plastic bottles with your own hands?

In order to weave a strong thread, it is not at all necessary to choose expensive yarn. Sometimes scrap materials that can be found in every home are quite enough.

Even seemingly useless items such as plastic bottles are quite suitable for this purpose. Weaving a rope from a bottle is quite simple. First you need to cut it into thin long strips and gradually weave it together.

Plastic weaving is done manually or using ordinary cosmetic tweezers.

To make a rope from plastic bottles, for convenience it is better to make your own machine. This is a simple design that anyone can do.

We will need:

  • wooden block of any size;
  • blade;
  • 2 nails.

Manufacturing of the machine

So, take a wooden block and drive 2 nails into it (5-6 cm from the edge), not too deep. Cut off the heads of the nails and bend the nails to the sides.

After this, carefully saw the block at a distance of 4-5 cm from the edge, but not all the way. We process the cut with sandpaper. Then we make another cut - across the first cut. It should be as deep as the width of the blade.

We insert the blade into the cut and clamp it with nails.

How to use this machine? We insert the bottle into the through cut, do not forget to cut off the bottom first. We rotate the bottle around its axis. As you can see, the bottle is cut into a thin strip.

In childhood, weaving laces and wreaths from grass was common. For this purpose, plants of a special variety were chosen: hard and sharp, they could very easily cut you. Blades of grass woven into flagella also made a fairly strong rope.

How to use this machine? We insert the bottle into the through cut, do not forget to cut off the bottom first. We rotate the bottle around its axis. As you can see, the bottle is cut into a thin strip.

Once you have cut your plastic bottle tape, you can make it more durable. To do this, you need to hold it over a hairdryer or gas burner, twisting it a little. After this treatment, the tape will become shorter, narrower, but several times stronger!

In childhood, weaving laces and wreaths from grass was common. For this purpose, plants of a special variety were chosen: hard and sharp, they could very easily cut you. Blades of grass woven into flagella also made a fairly strong rope.

Typically these are used in the construction of small rafts or boats. This fun is probably familiar to everyone from childhood. In the modern world, grass fibers have been replaced by cotton fibers and are successfully used to make natural products. Particularly strong threads were obtained from nettles.

This procedure had to be carried out wearing protective gloves, otherwise the fingers would quickly turn red and begin to itch. However, the result was worth it, and the rope came out strong. After drying it in the sun, it was possible to weave a small string bag. Nettle ropes are widely used in authentic style.

They are completely environmentally friendly and even have some healing properties.

DIY bark rope

Dear visitors to the site, from the master class presented by the author, you will learn how to independently weave a rope from the bark of young trees in camping conditions.

This type of making a rope from a natural material will greatly help a person in the wild for survival, for example, to tie the logs of a raft together or to tie up the floors of a hut, as well as to rescue comrades who have fallen into a deep hole or are stuck in a swamp. In general, the situation on a hike can be very non-standard, and sometimes simply shocking to the mind of the average person. This rope can also be used as a tourniquet to stop bleeding and tighten splints in case of fractures. Anything can happen...

And making a rope from the bark of young trees of willow, willow, hazel, etc., is very simple, for which you only need a knife and a little patience)

The first step is to prepare the required number of young thin twigs and make cuts to tear off strips of bark from them. Next, the resulting blanks are simply braided. Everyone probably knows how to braid a pigtail)) And if not, then learn, you’re not stuck on an iPhone))

So, let's take a closer look at the whole process from start to finish.

Materials

1. twigs of young trees (willow, willow, walnut, etc.)

  • Tools
  • 1. knife
  • Step-by-step instructions for weaving rope from tree bark with your own hands.

To obtain a rope in camping conditions, we need to get twigs and branches of young trees; the type of tree can be essentially any, the main thing is that the bark is strong and easily removed. We make the workpiece using a knife, but if it turns out that you don’t have a knife, then we simply break the rods with our hands, and then pry up the bark at the splitting site and rip it off.

We make cuts with a knife, in this case the author made 3 cuts and in the end he will get 3 strips of tree bark. Then he carefully peels off the bark from the trunk. This is the strip you should get. We do the same with the rest of the twigs. The number of strips depends on the desired length and thickness of the rope .Then we begin to braid the braid, make a cross and fold one end. We braid a three-ended braid.

As we weave, the length of the strip will end and it should be increased by weaving together, connecting 15-20 cm with the previous strip.

After you finish weaving the rope, you should definitely fix the ends so that they do not unravel, and this is easy to do, just tie a knot and that’s it)

This is how the rope turned out.

Next, the author tested the rope for strength, namely, he made loops along the edges of the rope and tied a load weighing about 8 kg and hung it on a nail.

The rope holds the load perfectly. After which the master increased the load to 20 kg. It holds, only the rope stretched slightly. Then the author decided to hang on the rope himself, having done this, the nail straightened))
