How to apply for a position as an electric and gas welder

Registration for hiring an electric gas welder and an electric welder for manual welding (the name of the profession you provided does not exist) has its own characteristics.

Firstly, it is necessary to check the availability of a document confirming the presence of the relevant profession (a document confirming completion of a specialized educational institution or courses in welding, a qualification category corresponding to the nature of the work).

In our previous reviews, we have repeatedly touched upon the issues of registration and receipt of “preferential pensions”. Today our article will be a little more specific. More precisely, we will consider the procedure for assigning preferential pensions to electric and gas welders. However, the article will also be useful to those whose profession involves working in difficult working conditions. Once you read it to the end, you will learn what benefits you may qualify for in retirement and how to obtain those benefits.

Let's start with the fact that “preferential” in our country is a pension that is assigned earlier than the statutory period.

Vacation and pension of a welder - length of service, benefits, health problems. The profession of a welder is classified as complex and responsible. A welder must have serious theoretical knowledge and be a brilliant practitioner. Much in this profession depends on the qualifications of the specialist and the conditions in which he works. And also on the company’s policy regarding the working conditions of the welder and their assessment.

In accordance with Section XXXIII “General Professions” of List No. 2, the right to early assignment of an old-age labor pension is provided to electric and gas welders engaged in cutting and manual welding, on semi-automatic machines, as well as on automatic machines using fluxes containing harmful substances of at least class 3 danger. At the same time, electric and gas welders engaged in automatic welding are required to confirm the use of fluxes containing harmful substances of at least hazard class 3.

Features of the work of an electric gas welder

Electric and gas welders are those people who constantly deal with quite harmful working conditions. If citizens are engaged in welding and cutting with semi-automatic or automatic machines containing fluxes for a long time, then such workers have the right to count on early retirement and some other benefits, which will be discussed in the next paragraph.

The work of electric and gas welders involves the establishment of tariff and qualification characteristics, depending on the length of service and length of a person’s working day. In some cases, when the entries in the work book are not enough to justify the fact of early achievement of pensioner status, such an employee will need to present a special certificate stating that the person dealt with automatic cutting systems containing fluxes and harmful substances of the 3rd hazard class.

Before directly applying for a job, a potential applicant applying for the vacancy of an electric and gas welder must undergo a medical examination, which will confirm his health status and ability to carry out such complex work.

The enterprise may conduct a training and professional development program for already hired employees or potential team members. Such programs must contain the following items:

  • description of the features of the technological process of gas welding;
  • familiarization with working equipment;
  • training in the basics of mechanized welding;
  • theory and practice in working with gas-flame processing systems for materials;
  • familiarization with safety precautions when performing direct duties;
  • training in the basics of labor protection;
  • familiarization with the basics of electrical safety.

It is worth considering that, in addition to obtaining qualifications in specialized educational institutions, electric and gas welders must be constantly aware of innovations in the field of working with automatic and semi-automatic systems for cutting materials in order to timely learn how to use one or another modern equipment.
