- How to fill out a welder's resume correctly?
A welder's resume is a special document that allows you to present all the important information to a potential employer.
All data must fully describe skills, strengths and advantages. First of all, professional skills, completion of special courses or obtaining an education are important. Many companies are ready to hire employees who have work experience behind them. So don’t discount this factor either. Structure: important points and sequence
A logical, consistent presentation of information has not ruined more than one welder’s resume. Try to briefly and clearly tell about yourself. Mandatory points in such a document from the applicant are:
- Contact Information;
- photo;
- skills and responsibilities;
- education (from last to first);
- previous places of work (if any);
- additional courses;
- participation in exhibitions, competitions, creative activities;
- extra skills;
- personal information (personal characteristics, qualities).
A resume for a welder position, if you have experience, must contain visual evidence of the work - photographs, illustrations, example drawings or successfully completed projects.
Writing Guidelines
Unlike other resumes, a welder does not have to describe himself or his hobbies or passions. This will not affect the candidate's performance or productivity in any way. The presence of communication skills is more aimed at managers, marketers, and journalists. A person working with welding may, in principle, not communicate with anyone.
But personal characteristics are better described:
- hard work;
- accuracy;
- perfectionism;
- responsibility;
- diligence.
It is advisable to write a special resume for a specific vacancy. Example: you see a suitable job advertisement and want to become their employee. Carefully read their requirements, where specific responsibilities are indicated. You did not indicate such characteristics in your resume for the position of welder, but you understand that you have worked with someone like this before. Then it is rational to rewrite the document in such a way as to adapt to the wishes of the employer.
If you don't have the experience you want, don't pretend to be a science fiction writer. The truth is revealed very quickly, especially if there is a practical task to be completed during the interview. You can indicate here information about taking courses, education, completing a final project and advanced training.
Skills: what should a successful welder write?
Include useful information in your welder's resume - it can really influence the decision of a potential employer. These include skills. Examples of correct wording:
- creation of drawings;
- cast iron welding;
- work with electric and gas welding;
- welding of non-ferrous metals;
- compliance with safety regulations;
- agricultural arc welding.
In the “about yourself” section, it is better to write about performing additional functions and complex tasks at your previous place of work. For example, you could maintain documentation there on occupational safety and health in your area.
Do not hesitate to indicate the welder's resume and the desired level of payment. Name the required amount right away so that the employer can immediately assess the match between skills and pay, and your ambitions. Check the accuracy of the information you leave to establish contact - phone number, email, name, accounts on social networks or instant messenger.
Do not overload the document with unnecessary information: write clearly and to the point. Data that does not relate to professional activities will remain outside the attention of the employer.

What are the differences between the professions of an electric welder and manual welding depending on the category?
When assigning the next rank, it is assumed that an employee who already has a certain level of qualification has reached such a level of professionalism and experience as to master a new amount of knowledge in the welding process, and is able to perform a larger volume of welding examples. That is, the characteristic of each subsequent category does not exclude the characteristic of the previous one, but complements it.
With the assignment of each subsequent category, a manual electric welder must be able to perform an increasing number of welding jobs and know more and more theoretical information related to this type of activity.
How to obtain permission for a welder to work with a certificate and permit
Author: Evgeniy
How does a welder get permission to work, what permits need to be obtained, who issues them, etc. The registration conditions can be found HERE.
Today, welding can be said to be one of the most sought-after professions in our country (if not the most). Construction work is underway everywhere, the lost former appearance of buildings and structures is being restored, plumbing is being carried out and restored, etc. And welding equipment workers play a significant role in all this.
In this article we will talk about an ordinary welder with a regular permit (not to be confused with a NAKS welder).
In order to allow an employee of the above specialty to enter the workplace, several mandatory conditions must be met.
Let's start, perhaps, with the specialty itself.
In 2021, a Decree came into force stating that it is allowed to involve specialists who have completed MANDATORY training in their specialty.
What does it mean? Welders who have not been trained in a specialized educational institution and have not received a diploma or certificate (depending on which institution they graduated from) CANNOT be hired. From the point of view of the bureaucratic apparatus, certified specialists are better than home-grown ones (although personally, I have often seen the opposite).
The first condition for admission is a diploma of specialty. Further, a mandatory condition is to obtain a certificate of labor protection for a welder, or, as people say, a “crust”.
