Manufacturing of metal parts according to customer drawings

Subtleties of manufacturing metal parts using samples

First of all, you need to choose a production method. It directly affects the quality of products. We select a suitable workpiece taking into account the size, shape, and processing allowances. In this case, the mass and type of raw materials are important. Blanks are produced in various ways:

  • casting It is possible to produce blanks and parts even from refractory alloys. Complexity of the resulting samples: from 1 to 5 groups. The method is characterized by excellent geometric accuracy of products, high surface quality of the resulting parts - practically without roughness;
  • stamping. Quickly and accurately gives the source material the shape of the finished product. This process involves deformation of the metal under the influence of directed pressure. In this case, the sheet changes its shape, maintaining its original thickness;
  • forging. Compared to castings, metal products of the highest quality are obtained. It is possible to manufacture custom parts according to drawings, which are distinguished by large forgings in weight and dimensions, which is impossible by other methods;
  • disembarkation. It is characterized by high production speed, as well as reduced resource and energy costs for the manufacture of one product. For cold heading, both non-ferrous and ferrous metals are used;
  • rolling. Increases the length and width of the workpiece and reduces its thickness. The technology provides high load resistance. Finished products can be bent, cut, welded and other manipulations, which gives a lot of scope for use.

The production of custom parts is carried out according to drawings with a predetermined type of equipment and in accordance with the requirements for the technical process. To create an original product, a prototype is first developed with careful testing of the technology. To achieve the desired result, changes are made to the original design documentation.

Body parts elements

The largest element of each car is its body part; it largely determines the key consumer qualities of vehicles. The body part is not the main structural element, however, quite high demands are placed on its technological parameters, because several factors depend on the quality of the body:

  • car speed;
  • safety of drivers and passengers;
  • convenience;
  • aesthetic qualities of the car.

Many drivers sometimes encounter this kind of trouble such as damage to the car body. In addition to body parts, we also offer the production of parts according to the sample . Damage to the entire body or its individual elements mainly occurs as a result of an accident, improper use of the car, hooliganism and other reasons.

In some cases, repair may no longer be a way out of the situation (renewing the geometry of the body part is technically impossible or economically unprofitable) and a complete replacement of body elements is necessary.

After this, your order will be queued for fulfillment. The procedure for working with urgent projects is discussed with our managers individually. We also take care of the delivery of finished parts. All you have to do is accept the job.

When manufacturing custom parts according to drawings, we work according to the following scheme:

  1. We prepare the workpiece and give it the appropriate dimensions.
  2. We process the surface on the required machines.
  3. If necessary, we carry out heat treatment by firing, hardening and

  4. in other ways.
  5. We carry out finishing processing of parts.

If necessary, components are connected by welding or soldering. As a result, you get a durable and reliable product or mechanism with a long service life.

Car body parts

The car body is one of the main components. Typically, body parts are made from high-quality carbon steel. Even with a small sheet thickness, they are highly durable, but high humidity and defects can lead to corrosion. Road traffic accidents can also pose much more serious problems.

In such cases, it is necessary to replace elements whose geometric shape cannot be restored. In this case, specialized equipment is used, which helps in the manufacture of pipeline parts and other metal products. It is impossible to do without milling, drilling, band sawing, and grinding installations. During their selection, it is necessary to focus on their quality and who the manufacturer is. The Zavod-Detalej.ru company offers the best technology, German metal processing lathes, which ensure the implementation of many technical processes. During this time, the required degree of safety, acceleration of speed, initial visual appeal of the appearance of spare parts, and comfort are achieved.

Body elements must be very durable. It is also important to consider their ease of production. In this regard, alloyed hardwood is used. The disadvantage of this material is its high susceptibility to corrosion. Therefore, after stamping and all necessary procedures, galvanization is carried out. More often, special soil is used. Before applying it, the surface is treated with an anti-fat alkaline solution. Then a primer is applied and the part is sent to dry.

Aluminum does not have such disadvantages, which is why steel is slowly pushing out. One cannot help but mention the lightness of this material. A body part made of aluminum will weigh much less. But there are also other features:

  • low noise insulation,
  • price.

In order to get rid of extraneous sounds and vibrations while moving, additional sound insulation and high-quality manufacturing of body parts . Repair of such elements is carried out using specialized equipment.

Manufacturing of plastic car body parts

To make a part , you need at least one mold, which can be male or female. The mold must have a slope to allow the finished product to be removed from it. The better the mold is polished, the higher the surface quality of the molded part.

When molding parts, the following preparatory work is performed. The inner surface of the mold is coated with a substance that facilitates the removal of the finished part from the mold.

Based on the resistance to current loads and appearance, the appropriate fiberglass fabric is selected for reinforcing the part being manufactured. Prepare a template from thick paper, mark and cut out fiberglass according to the template.

Next, select a polyester resin of appropriate quality and characteristics necessary for the subsequent operation of the part. Dyes are added to the resin. There are many types of resins, differing in different chemical compositions. Each of them corresponds to a specific purpose. The resin used to apply the first layer to the mold is called ice coating. Fiberglass is used in the form of a dense material - felt, consisting of short threads approximately 50 mm long, randomly located and connected to each other with a thin layer of resin. The thickness of fiberglass is in the range of 1–2 mm, but most often it is measured by weight of 1 m2. The most common values are 300, 450, 600, 900 g/m2. These are fabrics of various types, differing in the manufacturing method, weight and nature of fiberglass. The most widespread is “taffeta”, which has a cellular texture. Glass felts have less mechanical strength than fabrics, but they are more convenient for making complex shapes.

In mass production, another type of glass fiber is used: cut fibers, which have a fiber length similar to glass felt or slightly shorter. They are used to make the base.

Body parts and what is better to buy

The choice of auto parts for body repair on sale is very wide. The quality of the components, as well as the price, may vary. The purchasing rules are quite simple:

  • For new cars, original auto parts are often purchased.
  • If you have a rare or long-discontinued model, it is better to look for spare parts at car dismantling yards.
  • If a car enthusiast does not want to use used spare parts, then you can order individual production at a service station or in specialized workshops.
  • Sometimes a racing car needs to be modified to make it lighter and improve maneuverability. Experts from companies with a narrow specialization will help with this.

When buying any auto parts, you should pay attention not only to the price, but also to the quality. It is recommended to purchase parts from trusted places and be sure to receive a receipt. This will make it possible, if necessary, to return the goods.

Fiberglass body parts: they don’t rot, but what’s the catch?

“Recently there have been a lot of advertisements on the Internet about the sale of fiberglass body parts. Please tell us more about them, all the pros and cons. How do they behave in accidents? Are there any problems with resistance to temperatures and technical fluids? Do they paint without problems?

Fiberglass body parts are manufactured in Belarus by several small companies. The material is fiberglass impregnated with polyester or epoxy resin. You can make everything from it, from “eyelashes” on headlights to body panels. When properly manufactured, these parts are very strong and durable. Previously, the material was actively used in tuning, but today standard parts are often made from it.

Fiberglass should not be confused with ABS plastic. In industrial applications, it is more convenient to work with the latter, since the technology for manufacturing body parts from fiberglass requires the use of a large amount of manual labor.

As for strength, it all depends on the quality of workmanship. Body parts made of fiberglass from Grodno are widespread on the market. They made several videos with crash tests of their parts - judging by the video, there are no problems with strength. True, stronger parts could have been made for testing, but according to reviews there are really no problems with strength. However, the use of non-original body parts means making changes to the design. No one has crash tested cars whose metal body parts were replaced with fiberglass, so we can’t say anything about safety.

We can only guess. If you change only the front fenders, this is unlikely to significantly affect safety, because many cars use these elements made of plastic. But if all the attached iron and thresholds are replaced with fiberglass, then there is a risk that safety problems will arise, because non-factory changes are made to the programmed cage of crushable zones.

Thanks to fiberglass, the weight of the car is reduced (although the weight distribution may also change), the material is repairable and is able to return to its shape after impacts. But the most important thing is that it does not rust. At all.

There are no problems with installing parts if they are made with high quality. If there are any complaints, they concern small things and can be eliminated. Kuzovplastic employees assure that they make matrices using original spare parts. If everything is in order with the body geometry, the parts are installed without problems. The declared temperature range is from -60°C to +140°C, and there were no complaints about painting or resistance to technical fluids.

Today, fiberglass parts are made for many models. Basically, cars were selected that have a high resource, limited, in fact, by the body. The Grodno company's product range includes body parts for Audi A5, A6 (C4), A6 (C5); Infiniti FX35; Ford Transit, Galaxy; Mercedes-Benz W202, W124, W210, W140, Sprinter W901-W905, Sprinter W906, Vito W638, Vito W639; Nissan Patrol (Y61) and Primera (P11); SEAT Alhambra; Volkswagen LT, T4 and Sharan. Mostly wings are sold, sometimes doors.

The list of spare parts is constantly growing. As we were told at Kuzovplastic, they plan to produce body parts for all cars. They say that they are even preparing to take over Taiwan, where inexpensive iron parts are produced. In Grodno they believe that Taiwanese parts are of worse quality - they do not fit into gaps or quickly rust.

DetailFiberglass, rub.Metal, used, rub.New, Taiwan, rub.
Infiniti FX35 wing160375 (one position)630
Volkswagen Sharan wing15065-70121
Audi A6 (C4) wing150150240
Volkswagen LT rear door500188 (rusty)
W202 wing30080 (many offers with rust)67
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter front door500300-500 (in poor condition)

As for prices, the parts cannot be called expensive, considering how much manual labor is used in production. Cars that are particularly susceptible to corrosion are often offered rusty parts. There are new ones from Taiwan - sometimes they are cheaper, sometimes more expensive, but they say that there may be nuances in quality. In general, there is a point in purchasing and installing fiberglass parts, but you should still approach this with caution, since the market may sell low-quality parts from manufacturers who are just getting their feet wet.
