I built a fully functional, powerful motorized solution for a DIY car wash.
Tired of washing your car while tied to a garden hose? Did you enjoy watching Ghostbusters? Do you have an old cylinder?
One of my biggest pet peeves is a dirty car. There is nothing worse than showing up to a date or meeting in an unwashed car. Last week my car was very dirty and I had to do something about it. I had this old tank and I had a crazy idea - to make a homemade Karcher with my own hands in the Proton-Pack style, like in Ghostbusters.
I used two cans, fittings, a blower, a water cannon, a waterproof drill, 8 mops and a few other things to build my DIY mini washer.
Based on this, I assembled a backpack with a 4-step system for cleaning cars at home:
- Soap water gun
- High speed rotating microfiber brush
- Water flush gun
- Water removal blower
Operation and Maintenance
Proper washing service directly depends on compliance with the following recommendations:
- After each use of the washer, change the filter to maintain throughput at an optimal level;
- Before activating the unit, make sure it is operational;
- prevent children from having access to such equipment;
- purchase a battery if the source of electricity is unstable;
- replace elements that are out of order immediately;
- ground the electrical part using a cable with three copper cores;
- the plug must have a grounding terminal;
- do not use the device for more than 3 hours at a time, even if you made it from the most durable materials;
- do not fix the jet in one area on the surface of the car for too long, otherwise you risk damaging the paintwork;
- despite the pressure inside the case of 150-170 bar in the case of store-bought options, if you make it yourself, 100 bar will be enough;
- If stains are not removed under a pressure of 100 bar, it is better to get additional brushes or a turbo cutter in the form of an attachment to a hose.
Main components
Since we do everything from improvised means, problems may arise with such a parameter as reliability. I believe that any sink or foam generator should be assembled in accordance with GOST and other requirements. If you violate all the recommendations and sculpt a structure from the first spare parts you come across, it’s better not to start.
If you are ready to act consistently and competently, then maybe something good will work out. Homemade car washes are not a myth at all. A lot of people, including my friends, collected them. They work well. Although my foaming agent works no worse. Yes, I bought it and I'm not ashamed of it.
So, since we are talking about homemade sinks, let's see what components they are assembled from.
We've sorted out the basic elements. But there is also a hose, nozzles and other components that are part of a homemade sink. Or think about which one to choose among ready-made sinks sold in stores.
