Model range of Green Rock septic tank and rules for its installation on the site

Feature of the device - stone filter

The manufacturer focuses users' attention on the fact that the Green Rock septic tank filters wastewater using plates or cartridges made of stone fiber. It is a natural material obtained from molten stone. Used filters are disposed of by composting.

Technologies to help compact wastewater treatment plants

The Green Rock septic tank is a Finnish model of treatment systems; it is reliable, convenient and environmentally friendly.
The main filter element in a septic tank is stone fiber, which at the end of its life is used as fertilizer. The secret of the septic tanks produced by the company is that they use to the maximum those physical processes that accelerate water purification in a natural way, that is, with the help of bacteria. Thus, some Green Rock devices use the technology of spraying sewage that has previously undergone settling and an anaerobic stage of purification. When the treated wastewater is sprayed inside the container where aerobic fermentation occurs, saturation with aerobic microflora occurs many times faster. It is this method - so simple, but which still had to be thought of - that makes it possible to speed up and improve water purification.

Important! Green Rock brand products use biofilters and materials such as mineral wool fibers or PVC washers.

Mineral wool is an excellent natural material that does not introduce harmful substances into water during the purification process. PVC washers are neutral in relation to nature, they do not decompose and do not release anything dangerous into the water. But on their surface colonies of microorganisms useful for water purification develop very well.

The lineup

The range of septic tanks from the Finnish manufacturer is represented by products that differ in power and complexity of the wastewater treatment process. Thanks to this, you can choose an installation both for small objects, such as a bathhouse or sauna, and for large country houses.

Model range (from left to right): Green Rock IISI (septic tank “stone”), Green Rock 01, Green Rock 05

Green Rock 01 (sauna filter)

The Green Rock 01 septic tank is designed for treating wastewater with a low content of solid particles and fat. The product is recommended for recycling waste water from baths and saunas. The unit has small dimensions.

The technical characteristics of the device can be found in the table.

The unit is installed in a previously prepared pit. The bottom of the pit is covered with gravel. A trench is dug for the outlet pipe. The end of the outlet pipe is brought outside so that it can be washed in case of clogging.

Installation diagram - primary settling tank is required!

Note! If the soil absorbs water well, then the outlet pipe can simply be wrapped around the installation several times. In this case, there is no need to dig a drainage trench.

If the unit is installed in an area with low temperatures, it is recommended to insulate it with sheets of foam plastic and only then fill the space between the container and the walls of the pit with sand.

If during operation water stops flowing out of the unit or the liquid comes out too slowly, this means that it is time to replace the filter element.

Filters are replaced in the following order:

  • open the cover of the filtration compartment;
  • remove the container with filters;
  • wash the unit and dispose of used filter elements;
  • install a new filter cartridge.

Green Rock 05

The Green Rock 05 septic tank is designed for cleaning wastewater from a small house, the total volume of wastewater from which does not exceed 600 liters per day. The unit is installed according to a scheme that includes equipment for a primary settling tank, or is used as an additional wastewater treatment device for an existing autonomous sewer system.

The dimensions of the installation can be seen in the figure.

Dimensions and installation diagram of Green Rock 05

Installation of the container is carried out similarly to the previous model.

Note! The manufacturer recommends cleaning and inspecting the unit twice a year. And change filter cartridges once every 3-5 years.

Green Rock IISI

Green Rock IISI septic tank (stone) is a chemical and biological wastewater treatment plant. Used as an additional device for treating wastewater coming out of an existing treatment plant.

Septic tank "stone" on the site

Note! The manufacturer recommends installing an IISI biofilter at the outlet of a three-section settling tank, the volume of which is at least twice the daily waste discharge.

The external design of the case imitates a large stone. Installation of the unit does not require deepening the container into the ground. Installation should be carried out in accordance with the diagram in the figure.

Biofilter operation diagram

The unit is mounted directly above the last section of the sump. A pump (4) is lowered into the sump, lifting water from the reservoir to the filter elements (3) of the installation.

The technological purification process includes water treatment with Pax 18 coagulant (manufactured by Kemera). The coagulant is added to the wastewater automatically at certain intervals using a Green Rock Ecoteco dosing device.

Green Rock IISI is a volatile installation. It is connected to a 220 V network, the current consumption is 10 A.

The walls and lid of the container are insulated with foamed polyethylene. Therefore, when used in a permanent residence, the unit operates properly at sub-zero temperatures. The manufacturer recommends additional insulation for the winter, subject to non-permanent residence.

Technical parameters of the installation are given in the table.

Green Rock 05S (IISI-6)

Septic tank Green Rock 05S is a full-fledged autonomous biochemical station for complex wastewater treatment of a country house. Capable of processing up to 1 cubic meter of wastewater per day. Can serve a family of 4-6 people permanently residing in the house.

Biological treatment stations

Note! The thickness of the polyethylene walls of this type of installation is more than 10 mm, so the manufacturer boldly claims that the tank body is able to withstand serious groundwater pressure.

Characteristics and overall dimensions of the installation

The container consists of three sections, each of which has T-shaped overflows. The section located at the very top of the unit is called biological. In its cavity there are plastic washers - places for colonies of bacteria to live. Water, previously purified in the first two sections, is sprayed over the surface of the washers using a circulation pump. Microorganisms oxidize biological contaminants remaining in the liquid and contribute to the final purification of wastewater.

The installation also involves chemical treatment of wastewater using the Pax 18 coagulant (the main active ingredient of the drug is aluminum sulfate). As a result of a chemical reaction, the wastewater is freed from phosphorus, which precipitates.

IISI-6 units are available in two versions:

  1. With pump and dispenser GR Ecoteko, spraying liquid coagulant Pax 18.
  2. Powered by a coagulant in the form of GR AquaStone tablets.

Note! A biochemical installation needs to clean all containers of sediment using sewage disposal equipment at least once a year.

The connection diagram of the unit is shown in the figure.

Green Rock IISI-10

The Green Rock IISI-10 septic tank is designed similarly to the previous model. The difference between the devices is only in power. This installation can serve a large country house with an area of up to 300 square meters, in which up to 12 people permanently live. In houses where there is already a septic tank, the installation can be connected at the outlet from it.

The installation installation diagram is shown in the figure.

Installation and installation of chemical-biological wastewater treatment complexes Green Rock IISI-6 and IISI-10 is carried out in the following order:

  1. A pit is being prepared for a container of appropriate size. Ditches are dug for inlet and outlet pipelines. The slope of the supply pipeline must be at least 15 mm per linear meter, the outlet pipeline must be at least 5 mm. The manufacturer draws the attention of users to the fact that the depth of the supply pipe should not exceed 1 meter, since the container is not designed for higher soil pressure.
  2. The bottom of the pit is covered with gravel. The inlet and outlet pipes are covered with sand. For areas with high groundwater levels, it is recommended to lay drainage pipes at the bottom of the pit in a layer of gravel. They will help drain groundwater and reduce external pressure on the installation.
  3. The container is insulated with sheets of extruded foam. This is especially true for installations that are not in constant operation during the cold season.
  4. The unit is installed level in the pit. Inlet and outlet pipes are installed.
  5. An aeration pipe is installed. Please note that its upper part must be at least 1 meter above ground level.
  6. The container is filled with water, and only then the unit is sprinkled with sand. Sand is poured in stages. Each layer is spilled with water to eliminate voids.

In addition to the models described above, you can find Green Rock 15 and 20 units on sale, designed for large (1.2-3 cubic meters per day) water consumption. However, the official dealer informs that these units are being discontinued and recommends purchasing the IISI-10 model instead.

The undeniable advantages of Green Rock septic tanks

A high degree of purification is always a big advantage of any septic tank. After all, sometimes it is better to pay a lot once for good quality than to incur constant costs for additional water purification later. Even if separate biofilters from the Green Rock brand are used, they are located exactly at the outlet of the system, that is, at the most critical section of the treatment system. It is much more difficult to make a mistake with the construction of a sump than with the arrangement of an aeration field or chamber, which is why you can give preference to a biofilter. In addition, it is suitable for any type of settling tank, including industrial ones.

When wastewater enters the septic tank, it undergoes mechanical purification using a filter made of a unique stone fiber brand “Green Rock”, which is capable of retaining solid particles. It is also highly efficient, lightweight and compact.

Finnish products are really good. But every year we have fewer and fewer buyers for it. And the point here is not only that domestic developments are appearing that can solve the problem of cleaning at the same level, but the price of the issue.

Alexey Shalenok

Of course, the Finns use their know-how in these systems, but they also charge the consumer an exorbitant amount for this. There are some discoveries here, a careful selection of materials, but polymers - for washers and for the body, and mineral wool - these are not such expensive materials to justify the cost at which the Finnish manufacturer enters the market. As for our consumers, yes, almost every big city has its own “ruble”, but today, as a rule, they are rebuilt with a ready-made main sewer system. Thus, those who could afford Green Rock septic tanks purely financially cease to need them. Other consumers have to wait for sales and promotions on these very high-quality products.

Selection principle

When choosing a sewage treatment unit from a Finnish manufacturer, you should pay attention to the fact that septic tank models Green Rock 01 (sauna filter), 05 and IISI (stone) are not independent treatment facilities. It would be more correct to call these installations biofilters. Since they can only be used as additional equipment for wastewater treatment. These units are installed and connected at the outlet of the main sewage settling tanks.

Only three-chamber septic tanks Green Rock IISI-6 and IISI-10 can be called full-fledged sewage treatment stations. The two lower chambers act as a sump. A biofilter is installed in the third (top) one. The installations differ only in daily productivity. The Green Rock IISI-6 septic tank is designed to serve a family of no more than 6 members. The Green Rock IISI-10 septic tank is able to cope with the load in a house where up to 12 people live permanently.

Biofilter IISI

The Green Rock biofilter is a device that will help improve the operation of any septic tank. The product is mounted at the outlet of the last section of the settling tank and provides biochemical treatment of clarified wastewater.

Biofilter IISI is an energy-dependent installation, since its operation is ensured by a compressor. Clarified water is sprayed onto the filter loading, saturated with oxygen. And on the surface of the load there is a “layer” of microorganisms that contribute to the decomposition of organic matter.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of purchasing a biofilter:

  • the use of this device makes it possible to avoid filtration fields, since the high quality of purification will allow water to be discharged directly onto the ground;
  • compactness;
  • easy installation.

Minuses:

  • high cost, comparable to full-fledged VOC;
  • energy dependence.
