Advantages

Cable Manhole Configurations
Depending on the direction and number of incoming cable pipeline blocks, wells are divided into the following types:
- Stationary cable wells. Devices of this configuration are most often used for installing cable lines and communications; they are installed directly near stations, points and other nodes for connecting to them with a short section. They are mainly monolithic;
- Walk-through wells are intended for installation in linear sections of laying communications and in areas with a slight angular deviation in the horizontal (within 15 degrees);
- Branching cable wells. This type of cable wells is installed at points where the route of laid communications branches into several directions. Prefabricated branching devices are assembled from standard walk-through and corner reinforced concrete cable wells and represent a complex large-sized structure;
- Corner cable wells. Cable wells of this configuration are installed in places where communications rotate by 90 degrees. When the angular rotation differs from the value of 90 degrees, non-standard design solutions are used with a deviation of the reception of the channel axis on the side of the change in the laying direction.
All reinforced concrete cable wells have mandatory structural reinforcement. It is made of steel reinforcement or mesh, connected using resistance spot welding. All metal elements are coated with an anti-corrosion compound. Reinforcement imparts the overall strength characteristics of the structure and forms the main frame of the product.
Application
Communication wells are installed for the following purposes:
- Protection of cable couplings;
- Pulling cable into blocks;
- Organization of interchange of engineering routes;
- Installation of various cable network configurations;
- Maintenance and installation of engineering components.
When choosing a communication well, it is also important to take into account the configuration, which specifies the parameters of the cable output and input - stationary, through, angled, multi-channel or branched direction. Walk-through wells are installed on straight highways, and corner wells for turns. If a double turn is needed, then a cross well with a direction in four directions is purchased.
Advantages of plastic wells
Plastic wells are becoming increasingly popular, and many highways are replacing outdated concrete wells with plastic ones. You can buy them from the manufacturer, which will also offer well installation services.
Advantages of wells made of polymer plastic compared to concrete:

Types of cable communication wells
Plastic cable wells presented by Europlast are divided into series that have their own purpose:
- KN series . It features an increased neck diameter to accommodate equipment and dimensional couplings. The purchase of additional elements allows you to increase the height of the product from 500 to 3000 mm.
- KS series . The smallest model is KS 1, and the largest is KS 5. Models KS 1 and KS 2 are presented in a tetrahedral configuration, and the rest are octagonal. They are used primarily for laying communication lines in business entities, in the territories of private households, at industrial facilities, social spheres, etc.
- CODE . The series containers contain special optical couplings where you can store spare fiber optic conductors. Used primarily for laying fiber optic networks.
- KKS from Rodlex . Prefabricated containers with the ability to increase height by adding well rings. It is used to create distribution networks of low-pair telephone sewerage.
These wells differ in shape and capabilities. Large-sized wells from the KS and KN series are perfect for installing equipment, but for laying communication networks it is better to choose smaller sizes.
The choice of the type of cable communication well is carried out at the design stage of engineering communication networks.
Additional equipment
To align inspection collectors with the level of the road surface, support concrete rings of the KO-Ch and KO-ChP types are used. They are installed on top of the tank, and a cast-iron hatch is mounted inside the structure. For fastening, cement mortar and special components such as SNKL are used. For CC under sidewalks, lighter hatches with reinforced concrete rings KO-1 with a height of 10 cm and KO-2 with a height of 15 cm are required.
Brackets with ruffs are mounted after assembling the entire structure in special holes. Ruffs are necessary for attaching the brackets.

In addition to standard consoles made of cast iron, it is possible to equip it with special consoles made of steel. They are necessary for mounting optical couplings MOG and MTOC. In already filled shafts, steel optical consoles are installed - KSO-2 (double) and KSO-3 (triple). Installation is carried out directly on the walls of the tank without brackets at a distance of 5.5 cm from each other.
Production and packaging
Cable communication wells are made from three-layer food-grade polyethylene. Thanks to the rotational molding method and the absence of seams, not only the tightness of the product is ensured, but also the uniform distribution of wall thickness. As a result, resistance to soil pressure over the entire outer area will be the same.
The design is created in such a way as to make the container not only durable, but also comfortable to install and maintain. It is a container with pipes and a neck. The products are additionally reinforced with stiffening ribs. Closes with a KKS hatch. Main parts of cable communication wells:
- The base or body of the KKS;
- Neck;
- Lid;
- Internal and external hatches, exits.
KKS from Rodlex consist of a ring, a base and a lid. They are purchased separately. But the main advantage is the ability to increase the length of the communication well.
The assortment also includes models of cable manhole KS-5 with a metal frame and KS-5 with embedded parts for installing cable racks.
Plastic cable manholes
The benefits of plastic are driving the proliferation of sewer pits for electrical and telecommunications networks. Depending on the design, each type has its own marking.
- KKT-1 – well for telephone communications. Manufactured primarily for the private sector. The strength of the body is ensured by stiffening ribs.
- CODE – well for quick access. It is intended for installation of optical highways. The well contains couplings. The polyethylene structure contains distribution pipes on all walls.
- KKTM is a small-sized well for low-pair communications. Used as a container or as a manhole.
The low weight of plastic structures greatly simplifies their installation. A foundation slab is installed at the bottom, to which the container is attached with a cable or anchor. Installation is done manually. Backfilling is done with a mixture of sand and cement.
Installation rules
Input adapter installation procedure
There are certain installation rules that must be followed:
- Wells of the KN and KS series are installed in prepared pits.
- If water gets into the dug pit before installation, it must be drained or pumped out.
- Before installation, the bottom is filled and compacted with sand (the thickness of the cushion is 50-100 mm).
- Holes for installing corrugated or smooth-walled pipes are cut at the time of installation.
- Sealing of joints with pipes is ensured by a sealed entry adapter. The size of its hole must correspond to the diameter of the cutter.
- The work is performed in the following order: preparing holes, installing adapters (purchased separately), installing protective pipes.
- The area between the KKS and the pit is filled with sand, after which it is compacted.
- The trench must be completely filled with soil that was previously removed. Moreover, it will need to be compacted layer by layer (compaction coefficient 0.98).
It is also worth remembering that if cable communication wells are installed near heat pipelines, then thermal insulation must be provided, which guarantees compliance with the permissible temperature range for cables and couplings.
Features of laying cable ducts
The laying of cable channels is carried out according to certain rules.
- The pipes are buried to a depth of 40-200 cm. Plastic pipes are laid at the minimum depth, and cement-based pipes are laid the deepest. Any pipelines that require the greatest depth are laid under tram tracks. At a medium depth, pipes are installed under roads, at a minimum depth - under pedestrian areas.
- The channels are made with a slope of 4 mm/m, so that the water that gets there does not linger, but flows down.
- Pipes between wells are always located in a straight line. The permissible displacement is no more than 10 mm/m.
- In the basements of houses or in large collectors, it is advisable to lay cables not in pipes, but on consoles.
- Wires with the lowest voltage are laid to the shallowest depth.
- The optimal pipe diameter for the cable is considered to be 100 mm.
- It is not allowed to lay telephone and electrical wires in a common pipe.
- The volume of the well is selected depending on the location and purpose.
