The cost of processing a part is calculated by multiplying the number of standard hours by their price. To this we must add the costs of preparation, as well as tools.

Basic tips and tricks

Any experienced turner has several secrets of his own for the optimal process of boring the jaws of a lathe chuck. The following recommendations work most often:

• when the master makes a groove on the cams, he must move them apart by 2/3 of the maximum reach;
• the clamping washer should be installed as close as possible to the ends of the cams;
• When boring the cams, the ring that is clamped in the recess should be as rigid as possible.

These subtleties must be known in order for boring to be effective and achieve the desired result.

If the jaws of lathes are not bored, this will lead to the chuck beating, and then to the breakdown of the main components. It is important to follow all stages of this operation and remember that the cartridge will have to be dismantled in any case.

What determines the turnaround time for turning work to order?

The execution time of an order for turning is the sum of the time of the preparatory stage and the actual machine time of work on the lathe. The duration of preparation can be much longer than the metal processing itself. It includes the following steps:

• development of technology according to customer drawings (the more complex, the longer);
• purchase of material (if this is not a warehouse item);
• if a special tool is needed, then order it and wait for delivery (may take several weeks);
• The machining center additionally needs to develop a program followed by “running” a test part.

These are modern analogs of the IZH 250 ITV, 16K20, as well as the HAAS ST 20 CNC turning and turret center. Universal equipment is effective for metal turning in small batches in the absence of shaped surfaces. It allows you to prepare large programs faster and saves programmer labor.
