The housing of Unilos Astra equipment is made of environmentally friendly polypropylene, resistant to soil pressure and chemical reactions. Its walls are two centimeters thick, which makes it possible not to concrete the base during installation. In addition, the body is equipped with stiffening ribs, and its walls are welded using a unique technology. Due to this, the structure has high mechanical strength.

Operating principle of the Astra septic tank

The four compartments of the structure are interconnected by overflow devices or airlifts, into which wastewater is forced .

2. In the second compartment or aeration tank, the wastewater is processed by aerobic bacteria. Unilos manufacturers used the intermittent aeration method in the septic tank, with the help of which nitrates released with effluent are destroyed.
3. In the third compartment or secondary settling tank, the silt particles are divided into fresh and old. Old sludge is heavier in weight, so it settles and goes to the bottom of a separate receiver. Light fresh sludge is sent back to the second compartment by the system.
4. The fourth compartment or clean water sump finally purifies the water and removes it to the outside. If you connect a pump to this compartment, the water can be discharged to the desired location.

Advantages and disadvantages

Astra cleaning systems can be used in any climatic conditions. The stations have a large number of advantages , among which are:

1. Cleaning quality that reaches 98%.
2. Ease of installation and maintenance of equipment.
3. Compact size. This allows you to allocate a small area for installing a septic tank.
4. The strength of the model body. The thick walls of the equipment can withstand heavy loads and provide VOCs with good thermal insulation.

For all their advantages, Unilos models have several disadvantages:

• the design of the VOC is quite complex, which makes the probability of its failure much higher than the probability of failure of a simple purification system;
• Compared to conventional septic tanks, Astra treatment stations are quite expensive;
• systems with biological treatment require constant operation, and therefore are not suitable for houses with temporary residence of owners.

You should know that VOC Astra, after a power outage, begins to work like a regular septic tank. That is, its work does not stop, but the quality of wastewater treatment decreases.

Description of septic tank Astra 5

Wastewater treatment in the Astra 5 septic tank occurs in stages. To do this, a compact polypropylene container has four chambers. Each of them has its own purpose.

The liquid is poured through
the inlet pipe into the receiving chamber. Large contaminants present in wastewater settle naturally. The first chamber is equipped with an aeration tank. This device saturates the water with oxygen and grinds the settled particles.
A compressor installed in the septic tank pumps clarified water into the second chamber. It has a structure that traps animal hair and hair present in the liquid. The second aeration tank installed here additionally saturates the water with oxygen, which is required for the formation of activated sludge from crushed contaminants.

The third chamber is a sludge settling chamber, where the largest amount of this material is collected, which is then sent to the first chamber for reuse. In the last section, additional water purification occurs.

The sludge formed in the septic tank can be used as a complex fertilizer for feeding plants. Water from the septic tank is automatically removed from the outlet pipe into the ground or fills a storage tank and is used for watering the garden. The discharge of water from the system is controlled using special float sensors located in the chambers.

Astra stations have many models that differ in performance and capacity . The performance of the system is selected based on the number of people who will constantly use it. To do this, just look at the digital index of the equipment, which indicates how many users this model is designed for.

The most popular septic tank models are LOS Astra-3 and Astra-5, designed to serve families of three and five people, respectively.

In the process of servicing the installations, we did not find any significant disadvantages compared to other installations on the aeration treatment plant market.

However, it is worth noting that Unilos stations are structurally different from most analogues in that they include not two, but one compressor (for the first stations of the model range) and an electromagnetic valve. This design innovation does not affect the degree of purification in any way.

One compressor versus two

We do not believe that having two compressors is better than one, because... they do not duplicate each other (if one fails, the installation fails). Nor do we believe that one compressor is better than two. From our point of view, this is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage.

Solenoid valve

1. It has been noted that sometimes this design feature can cause stagnation in the liquid levels of the aeration tank and equalization tank in the absence of wastewater inflows. However, this problem can be easily fixed once and for all.

2. At the beginning of the summer of 2012, the stations were equipped with insufficiently high-quality valves, however, according to all requests, the valves were replaced by the manufacturer under warranty. Currently there is no such problem.

Plastic

The walls of Unilos ASTRA stations are made of Czech-made foam polypropylene. Perhaps this fact can be attributed to the advantages of the stations.

On the Internet, users leave mostly positive reviews . There are practically no negative reviews about this station, which indicates its efficient and high-quality work.

I am writing a negative review about the Astra septic tank, because our family cannot make “friendship” with it. After reading good reviews about this cleansing system, I decided to install the same one for myself. However, the quality of cleaning is poor , since sludge is not formed in sufficient quantity. It turns out that during operation (at least at first), the ratio of fecal and soap drainage must be 5:1. We get a lot more soapy stuff. So what should I do? Are we not allowed to wash and do laundry?
