Drainage system from TechnoNIKOL company
Main characteristics
The TechnoNIKOL drainage system is made of high quality PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Designed to collect and drain water that collects on the roof after precipitation. The shape of the structure is semicircular (D gutters - 125mm and D pipes - 88mm). Available in several colors. The warranty is given for 15 years.
In addition, this system is distinguished by:
- resistance to temperature changes (from –50°C to +50°C) and ultraviolet radiation;
- simplicity of installation (it’s easy to assemble with your own hands, taking into account the peculiarities of the building);
- light weight;
- versatility (can be used for both new and old buildings of various shapes);
- tightness (provided by rubber seals and snap-on parts);
- linear expansion of the plastic is restored.
The Russian production holding TechnoNIKOL is one of the five leading companies in Europe for the production of waterproofing materials. It has been producing drainage systems since 2011.
Installation stages
When installing funnels on the roof, you should adhere to the rules and recommendations established by SNiP 06-2009 (as amended by SP 118.13330.2012):
- the distance from the funnel to the nearest parapet/wall is at least 50 cm;
- at least two water intake elements must be installed on the roof with the enclosing structure;
- funnels are installed in the smallest places;
- Before installing the products, you must first divide the roof into diamonds and correctly lay the insulation, rolled roofing material with a slope towards their center.
Otherwise, the installation of funnels is performed as follows:
- After roofing work, the lower part of the water intake element is joined to the drainpipe. The fasteners should not be made very rigid so that the material does not deform during thermal expansion.
- Place the sealing ring on top of the waterproofing material.
- Mount the top of the funnel. It is located on top of the waterproofing. Additionally, the upper part is fixed with bitumen mastic.
- Upon completion of installation work, a protective grill should be installed.
A flat roof drainage system should be inspected regularly to ensure it is functioning and free of debris. A sudden downpour can lead to a roof collapse if the communication is faulty.
Check the correct installation of funnels by pouring a couple of buckets of water two to three meters from the mounted elements. If the liquid drains quickly and freely, the work was done correctly.

Instructions for use
Since this drainage system is easy to install, you can handle the installation yourself if you strictly follow the instructions (included in the kit). If you decide to work without the involvement of specialists, it will not hurt to learn some nuances:
- We pay special attention to funnels and their combination with rain grates (water should fall exactly into the center);
- the gutter is located at a distance of 50 - 90 mm from the wall (we count along its inner side);
- First you need to install the front board on the roof.
We determine the places for the drain funnels, and at a distance of 15 cm we strengthen the brackets, first at the corners of the roof. We stretch a rope between them, then install brackets every 60 cm. We lay the gutter (according to the instructions) and check whether it is in contact with the fastenings everywhere, otherwise the load will not flow correctly.
The chute should be installed from the receiving funnel. The connection occurs using couplings with clamps. They need to be latched.
We install an external plug on the gutter. Don't forget to lock the latch. We proceed to the installation of drainpipes. Remember that the funnel pipe must fit into the pipe. The pipes are attached to the wall using clamps. And the last thing: we strengthen the protective grilles in the funnels. Thanks to them, large debris will not fall into the drain. The drain should be located at a distance of 25 cm from the ground, from the blind area - 15 cm.
Now you can evaluate the work and give yourself credit. But for everything to work out, you need to clearly calculate the amount of ingredients. Otherwise, you will have extra “spare parts” and you will complain about your wastefulness. The worst option is that there are not enough components and the design, as they say, is lame.
Description and scope
Water inlet for flat roofs
Structurally, the element of the drainage system is a hollow section of pipe 160 or 450 mm long, equipped with an upper receiver. Additionally, the funnel is equipped with a mesh that protects the drainage system from debris (leaves, branches, etc.) getting into it. For simpler and more convenient installation, the water intake elements are equipped with a compression flange. A special heating system prevents water from freezing in the pipes and funnel in winter.
The TechnoNikol funnel for internal drains is used exclusively on flat roofs. Heated models are designed for installation on the roofs of cold, uninsulated buildings. Without exception, all flat funnels help collect and drain rain/snow water from the roof into the internal drainage pipes.
TechnoNikol elements can be installed on residential and commercial buildings.
For a roof enclosed by a parapet, you must use at least two drainage funnels.
We count wisely
First of all, we determine the roof area. Armed with a tape measure, taking a pencil and a notepad, we measure the roof area (you can use the building plan). We take into account how much precipitation usually falls in the region. Knowing the roof area and taking into account the configuration of the building, we calculate the number of funnels for drainage.
If the length of the roof eaves is within 12 m, the location of the funnel does not matter. Over 12m – we mount it closer to the center of the cornice. The gap between storm drains is no more than 24 m.
To find out the exact number of gutters, we check the perimeter of the cornice before installation. Now we find out how many pipes will be needed. To do this, measure the distance from the ground to the drain. Having received all the necessary calculations, we estimate the number of components of our drainage system.
How to determine the correct size of the Technonikol drainage system
In order to determine the size of the elements of the drainage system and their number, it is necessary to initially calculate the perimeter of the roof, the area of its slopes, and also measure the height from the surface of the ground to the base.
Then you can start calculating:
Calculation of roof area and selection of gutters
- the number of gutters is determined by dividing the length of the roof by 3 meters or 1.5 meters depending on the length of the products;
- the number of corners corresponds to the number of corner joints;
- the number of brackets for fastening gutters is determined by dividing the length of the cornice by the step of installation of fasteners - 0.6 m;
- the number of plugs is determined by the difference between the number of cornices, overhangs and the number of corners, which subsequently needs to be doubled;
- the number of funnels is obtained by dividing the area of the slope by 50 m2. At the same time, there must be at least one funnel for each slope;
- the number of elbows is twice as large as funnels;
- the number of universal clamps is determined by dividing the wall height by 1.5, increasing the result by 1 and multiplying by the number of funnels;
- the number of gutter connectors is determined by calculating the length of the cornice and the length of the gutters. For example, for a 3 m long cornice, no connectors are needed when installing 3 meter gutters, but for a 6 meter cornice, one connector is required.
Approximate calculation of drainage elements for a house
It should be noted that these calculations are basic. Everything will depend on the characteristics of a particular building.
We check
We use a building level or a level to check the slope of the gutter. To make sure the structure is tight, you need to plug the drain, pour water into the gutter and wait to see if a leak appears. Now you need to unblock the drain and see how long it takes for the water to drain and whether it remains in the gutter.
How correctly the gutters are installed at the edge of the roof is checked with a lath. It should fit easily under the gutter. If it resists, it means a mistake has been made. You can check for overflows using a watering hose. To do this, we orient the hose with water towards the roof slope. If the water does not overflow, you have done everything correctly. The water pressure should be average.
Advantages and disadvantages
The material of TechnoNikol funnels is not subject to corrosion and ultraviolet radiation
The main positive features of TechnoNikol funnels are as follows:
- Product design. Due to the fact that the funnels are made of two joining elements, it is possible to prevent possible deformations when the insulation and waterproofing layer move under the influence of temperature changes.
- The material is not subject to corrosion, which is important for long-term operation of the system.
- The polymer is able to withstand high mechanical loads.
- Inertness of the product to exposure to sunlight.
- Resistance of the polymer to aggressive environments, which are necessarily present in sediments.
- The funnel is universal in use - suitable for any building with a flat roof.
- The presence of a leaf catcher protects the drainage system from blockages.
- Compatible with various types of soft roofing materials for flat roofs (including membrane).
- Possibility of reliable water drainage even in cold weather due to the heating system.
- Light weight does not burden the overall roof structure.
- Simplicity of installation - the installation of the element can be carried out by one specialist.
In addition, the price of the product is quite acceptable for the Russian consumer.
Don't skimp on the little things
A number of reasons lead to the short service life of plastic gutters. And chief among them is excessive savings. This can lead to a lack of elements, and as a result:
- few funnels (water overflows from them and from the gutter);
- the gap between the brackets is large (the gutter bends under the weight of precipitation);
- mounting clamps for pipes are installed far from each other (they will not stand in strong winds);
- the drainpipe is located on the corner of the building (it will fall off in strong winds);
- the pipe “lies” on the wall (the wall may collapse over time, as well as the foundation and base).
The tool for the job should be selected in advance. To install a TechnoNIKOL drain you will need: a building level, a drill, a plumb bob, a utility knife, an angle grinder or a hacksaw, and a hammer drill.

Cost of TechnoNIKOL drainage systems
The price will depend on the number of elements and their characteristics, including color.
Therefore, here are the approximate prices for the components of the drainage system:
The cost of the drainage system will depend on its characteristics
- gutter – 380 rubles;
- drainpipe – 350 rubles;
- funnel – 210 rubles;
- cap – 55 rubles;
- pipe elbow – 130 rubles;
- brackets – 40 rubles/piece;
- couplings – 75 rubles/piece;
- corners for gutter - 200 rubles.
Also, the cost of the product will vary depending on the company where it will be purchased.
Gutters and downpipes will cost less if you purchase products that are 1.5 meters long instead of 3 meters long.
But, in most cases, larger elements are still required. Here everything will depend on previously performed calculations.
Connection at corners
If it is necessary to connect the gutter at the corners, you need to use a specialized element. It is called the universal angle.
Even easier to install than a gutter connector. It does not need to be fixed mechanically. The connection is made until it clicks.
If the angle is not right, then an adjustable element consisting of 2 parts is used. It is cut in place according to pre-made marks.
Brackets
The plastic bracket is designed to fix the gutter on the roof.
Step by step steps:
- Pull the string between the outer bracket and the funnel.
- According to its level, install brackets on both sides of the funnel at a distance of 10-15 cm. This distance is relevant for all connecting elements, both the gutter and the corner.
- Fix the remaining brackets at a distance of 50-60 cm. If you do not maintain the required distance, the structure will first sag and then collapse.
Note!
To calculate the number of brackets, you need to take into account that 2 will be required for the funnel, the same number for the gutter and corner. Total 6 pieces + 1 element for every 50-60 cm for the entire length of the cornice.
Funnel installation
This part is necessary to connect the gutter to the pipe for water drainage.
The funnel is attached to self-tapping screws through pre-drilled holes.
If there is no frontal board, then this element is fixed to extensions.
For 50 sq. m. it is necessary to install 1 funnel. At least one element must be on the slope.
Requirements for transportation, storage, care
When transporting TECHNONICOL plastic drainage, the rules for transporting goods are observed. Packaging and the components themselves must not be thrown, hit, deformed or bent during loading, unloading, storage, or transportation.
During transportation, the packages are placed on a flat surface so that they do not hit or be damaged by protruding metal corners, ribs, other parts of the body, or platforms.
Soft slings are used to move packages using special equipment.
Components are stored indoors or under canopies, not in direct sunlight, away from heat sources. They are placed on racks or flat pallets in stacks no higher than 1 m. Long elements are laid on the base along the entire length, hanging over the edges for a length of no more than 50 cm is allowed. When using support bars, the distance between them should be no more than 1 m.
The components are unpacked at temperatures above +15°C. If they were previously stored at low temperatures, they are kept for 12 hours (after storage at a temperature of 0 to +10°C) and for 24 hours (after storage at a negative temperature).
Once installed, plastic gutters require minimal maintenance. Westmet recommends:
- inspect and clean the protective grilles on the gutters twice a year (spring and autumn);
- periodically remove fine dirt from the internal surfaces of the drain with a hard brush or broom;
- if there is a large gap, part of the drain is disassembled and cleaned, then installed in place;
- You can use a soap solution to periodically wash the gutters.
Gutter plugs
If the roof is gable or the drainage system is not closed, the ends of the gutters must be closed with plugs. They will ensure tightness and rigidity of the edges. The connection is made until it clicks. Due to the symmetry of the gutter, the plugs are universal. That is, there is no need to determine which one is right or left.
If the funnel is located on the edge of the eaves overhang, then its connection to the plug is made using a piece from the gutter. It looks like this:
